Senior Adult Discipleship and Care Pastor

Purpose:

Overview:
Bell Shoals is prayerfully seeking a Christ-centered, theologically grounded, and relationally gifted full-time pastor to shepherd and disciple the senior adults of our congregation. This role combines teaching and spiritual formation with hands-on pastoral care, offering the opportunity to guide older saints in gospel maturity while also extending comfort, prayer, and presence during life’s trials.

Role Summary:
The Senior Adult Discipleship and Care Pastor will provide leadership to our senior adult ministry, develop and lead age-appropriate discipleship pathways, teach the Word faithfully, and oversee the pastoral care ministry. The position is ideal for a shepherd who loves older adults, knows how to honor their legacy, and longs to see them finish well in the faith.

Hours: Full-Time
Reports to: Discipleship Pastor
Responsibilities:

Senior Adult Discipleship
• Develop and implement a biblical discipleship plan for senior adults
• Teach regularly in classes, small groups, and special gatherings
• Equip senior adults to mentor and disciple others and maintain consistent contact with those in the ministry
• Coordinate senior adult events, Bible studies, and ministry opportunities
• Collaborate with other pastors to integrate senior adults into the broader mission of the church

Pastoral Care
• Work with the pastoral care team to ensure no member walks through suffering alone
• Provide pastoral visits to homebound members, those in the hospital, or in rehabilitation care
• Offer biblical counsel, prayer, and encouragement to those in crisis or need
• Work with the pastoral care team to ensure no member walks through suffering alone
• Officiate funerals and provide grief support when needed

Qualifications:

• A man of godly character who meets the biblical qualifications of an elder (1 Tim. 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9)
• Theological training (Master of Divinity or equivalent preferred)
• A shepherd’s heart with strong interpersonal skills and deep love for people
• A clear and compelling teacher of Scripture who disciples others with grace and truth
• Experience in pastoral ministry, especially among older adults, is strongly preferred
• A team player who thrives in collaborative ministry environments
• Alignment with our church’s theological convictions
