DAY 8: Wanted from Unpleasant

Being a foster child is difficult and can be, at times, unpleasant. There are times when you simply do not feel wanted. This is the situation that Diego finds himself in right now. Thankfully, he has just moved in with a new foster family. But will they love him? Will they show him that he is wanted and has value?

The Bible says that we were all spiritual orphans. There was a time when all of us were not in the right relationship with God. We were all sinners and rebels against Him. But God’s mercy and grace are simply amazing. Even while we were sinning against God, He demonstrated how much He loves us by sending His own Son, Jesus Christ, to save us. Jesus took our sins upon Himself and died the penalty of death that you and I should have had to pay. He did this so that you and I could be forgiven of our sins. Furthermore, Jesus, who was perfectly obedient to God and His law, gives us His righteousness so that everyone who has saving faith in Jesus is both forgiven of their sins and declared “righteous.” This means that Jesus gives us His obedience.

The Bible also says that the moment that someone repents of his/her sin and declares Jesus to be the Lord of his/her life, then God adopts that person into His own family. If you are a Christian, then you have already been adopted from your unpleasant circumstances and declared to be a son or daughter of God Almighty. By faith, you belong to God and have been brought into His house. God truly loves us, and we should never feel unloved or unwanted ever again. He is our Heavenly Father who will never leave or forsake us.

Can we pray for Diego today? Can we pray that God would bring healing to whatever the unpleasant circumstances were in his life that brought him to this point? Can we pray that this foster family would love Diego as their own and that he would find a true home with them?
